Freckles the Basset Hound – Soon To Be Therapy Dog!

Meet Freckles, a charming 2-year old Basset Hound and all she wants is to have her belly rubbed! As people walked by our photo session at Creekside, everyone stopped to see what was going on with all the dogs. And, as soon as they got close to this girl, she flopped right over to have her belly rubbed! Freckles started classes last week to become a therapy dog. When Freckles’ owner, Terri, met her for the first time at the shelter, Terri realized she would make a great therapy dog with her laid back and sweet personality. Hopefully Freckles will breeze through her training and will be ready to start her new career in helping people.

Bullet & Rex Hanging Out at Home

95% of my pet and people portraits are done outdoors, this was a great chance for Bullet and Rex to be in that other 5%. Mother nature yet again was not on my side for this session in Youngstown, but I came prepared with my lighting just in case and I’m glad I did! I had a great time going room to room finding new backdrops in the house for these adorable shepherd mixes’ photos. Rex, 2, was content for the entire session, but poor Bullet, 4, was not enjoying the thunder outside and it showed. Luckily a few treats, well a lot of treats, were all it took to perk this pup up. These two dogs for sure kept me on my toes the entire time!

There were many takes of this photo before we were able to get them to both stay and look at me at the same time.

The Best of 2009: Dog Portraits {Columbus, Ohio Photographer}

Next stop on my Best of 2009 list – the pet portraits!! This is a tough one, all the dogs I’ve had a chance to photograph in 2009 have been beyond adorable! I really wanted to feature one of each dog from last year, but I was able to narrow it down to the top three. I hope there’s no hurt feelings from any of the pups that I didn’t make the cut for my Best of 2009! I pick my top three based on my style of shooting and really seeing the personality of the dog in the photograph.

Can’t beat a great action shot of this adorable Lhasa-Poo running crazy through the park.

And of course, my guy! He just looks so serious in this photograph. This photo of Baxter was one of the People’s Choice Weekly Winners for the Best Friends Animal Photo Contest in November!

Louie the Yorkshire Terrier Enjoying Indian Summer at North Bank Park {Columbus Pet Photographer}

How cute is Louie, he reminds me of a little Star Wars Ewok!! This little Yorkshire Terrier belongs to my sister-in-law. I’ve always wanted a Yorkie, so the next best thing is to have a family member with one. I met up with them the other weekend at North Bank Park. It was again a beautiful day with this crazy Indian Summer weather we’ve had lately! Lou was pretty excited to be checking out a new park and we got some fun images. Here’s a few of my favorites.
