A Quick Getaway to Myrtle Beach

George and I just returned from a last minute trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. After some minor schedule adjustments, we were able to sneak away from Columbus for 3 days of fun in the sun and 2 days on the road. I was so happy when my mother-in-law asked us to come along on vacation! I spent many summers in Myrtle Beach as a teenager when my grandparents lived down there. Now we have the bonus of some of George’s family and a few of my friends living there to visit. The 10-hour road trip was well worth it once we arrived at our hotel, The Avista Resort in North Myrtle Beach. We had a wonderful oceanfront view from our balcony.

There was no rain and only stunning weather during our time there. And the food was beyond amazing everywhere we ate!! I have to give a shout-out for my good friend’s restaurant. If you ever go to Myrtle Beach, you must stop at Barons Steaks and Spirits in the Galleria on Restaurant Row. My personal favorites are the Bacon Wrapped Scallops and the Black Angus Filet Mignon. Those fresh water scallops are to die for!!

I was a bad photographer this trip and didn’t take my professional camera or my point-and-shoot camera. I knew that a large part of our trip would be spent by the pool or beach. The rest of our trip was spent spending time with family and friends. So we weren’t able to take in a lot of the area attractions. But, I had my handy dandy iPhone with me to capture a few photographs of the beautiful scenery around our resort.
