Stella the Bulldog | Dog Portraits in Westerville

I love, love, love bulldogs! With that said, I was sad when Stella did not place in the top three pups for the Cutest Dog in Columbus contest a few months ago. Lucky for me, her owner Meg and I quickly became Twitter friends after the contest. Meg works from home and loves to Tweet updates on her days with Stella. Although it’s a typical dog’s day – mainly sleeping and playing with her ball, they’re pretty entertaining, especially when Meg includes some photos. We were finally able to plan a session for this super cute Bully the other week.

Stella was a bit shy when they first arrived at Heritage Park in Westerville. But with the help of treats, toys, bubbles and bizarre sounds, she warmed up to me pretty quickly. This 1 1/2-year-old English Bulldog loved to turn her head the other way just as I was ready to snap her photo, I think she was playing a game with me. Meg brought along some of Stella’s favorite dog toys and even a new frisbee, but this silly girl was happier tracking down sticks and leaves to play with.

I’m so glad that Meg, Stella and even Meg’s mom were able to come out for the session. We had a great time and this dog kept us laughing the entire session. With the flowers in full bloom, there was a great variety of backdrops for Stella’s session. I’m so thrilled with the results of her photos, I just can’t choose a favorite image of her.

And on a random side note, whenever I hear the name Stella, I automatically think of Seinfield. There was an episode where Elaine meets Uncle Leo and his wife, Stella. Elaine starts yelling “STELLA!” like in A Steetcar Named Desire. Does anyone else remember that or am I the only one that watched just about every episode?

Oh that face!! How can you not fall in love with her!

Stella got her morning workout in during the session

One of the few times she decided to look directly at the camera for a shot. This is for sure one of my favorite images from the day!

You make her look like the friendliest pup. I’d love to know what lens you prefer to use for these. You have such shallow depth of field and great focus for a moving subject!

What a wonderful face- I love her! You did a great job of capturing her personality. And yes, I remember that episode- I think there’s a Seinfeld episode tie-in to anything in life!

  • These are fantastic. I always love your dog sessions.
