Action Dog Photography in Columbus

I have been thinking recently that I need to work on my action photography with dogs. During most of my sessions, I am able to capture images of the dog playing, I really wanted to focus on a session of nothing but running, jumping and having a blast. I recently put out a dog model call on my Facebook page for an active, well-trained dog. I had a lot of interest from my Facebook fans about the model call and one of the dogs I decided to go with was Tyson. After talking with his owner, Stacey, I thought he would be a great match for my little side project. Tyson is a 3-year-old Boxer who is full of energy!

We set up a photo session at Jefferson Community Park in Jefferson Township, right outside of Gahanna. While this park is not huge, it is a great location for photography with very minimal distractions. That evening, there were maybe 3 other groups of people there when we got started. Tyson was ready to go and Stacey’s husband and son also came along to keep him moving. They brought along his two favorites – a soccer ball and  a frisbee, but he was much more excited about the tennis ball I brought along. He was going strong for a little bit then quickly tired out. While Tyson was resting next to the pond, I was able to grab some portraits of him. Then we were able to get him up and running some more. I am pretty sure he was completely exhausted by the time we wrapped up his photos.

I had a blast working with Tyson and his family. I was excited to get out and do something a little bit different than my usual dog photo session. Check out all the fun we had in the images below.
