Adorable Dogs — Summer Portraits At A Gahanna Park

In February, I donated a dog portrait session along with a gallery wrap of that image to CHA’s Paws to Party fundraiser. The lucky winners of the silent auction prize were Dino and Franky. (Actually their people, Alisha and Luke won but we won’t tell the dogs that!) I was so happy when we were finally able to schedule their photo session. The weather has been pretty humid lately and thankfully, mother nature worked in our favor with low humidity and a gentle breeze. We decided to go to Hannah Park in Gahanna for their session. It’s a great location with 35-acres that include a pond and a shelter house.

The moment I saw the dogs’ expressive little faces when they got out of the car, I could not wait to start photographing them. The boys were ready to go when they arrived at the park. And by ready to go, I mean play, not get their photos taken! After Alisha and Luke walked the dogs, they settled down just enough to get started. Dino is a one-year-old American Staffordshire/American Eskimo mix that was adopted from CHA. Franky is a 3-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier who definitely acts like the younger dog. Franky loves to jump around and give kisses, while Dino is pretty laid back. These two were too much fun. They definitely got their exercise during their session when we walked back to the pond. They were so vibrant and energetic that they weren’t at all phased by the walk and these dogs were like Energizer Bunnies and kept going and going! You can’t tell by the photographs, but these two pups made me work for their portraits. They are both so sweet and so very loved by their owners.

Meet Franky — love his cute little face. This boy was so happy durring the session!

Franky loved the treats and I got some great expressions from him!

This is Franky's brother, Dino. I'm so glad he found his furever home with Alisha and Luke after being up for adoption at CHA!

One more of Dino — he didn't want to look at the camera at this point and was done with me tempting him with treats. Not sure what strange noises I used at this point to grab his attention.
