The Best Of 2013: The Top 10 Portraits { Boardman, Ohio Photographer }

I almost forgot it was that time of year for my annual “Best Of List”. I spent some time today going through my files trying to narrow it down. It is so hard to pick just 10 client images from last year! So many great clients, their children and of course their pets to pick from.

high school senior girl with red and white mini cooper

I have been truly blessed to have amazing clients! Katie is a Boardman High School Class of 2014 senior. We had a fantastic time at her session in Struthers and she was so easy to work with. She is a natural in front of the camera and it was hard to pick just one favorite from her session. Since I had to go with just one, I had to pick the image with her Mini Cooper. We had the perfect location, a clean car and a great outfit for this shot.

Fellows Riverside Gardens at Mill Creek Park is a phenomenal backdrop for any portrait session. Carol is a Master Gardener volunteer for the gardens and she and her husband, Jim, picked the spot for their portrait session. Never a slow day at the gardens, we probably picked the busiest morning for their session. But Carol had some great lesser known areas there that she shared with me and we by-passed the crowds and weddings. A stunning couple, wonderful weather and a great location — all the elements for a fabulous portrait session.

kids photograph sitting on silver bridge mill creek park youngstown ohio

I have always wanted to photograph a client on the Cinderella Bridge in Mill Creek Park. As luck would have it when we were driving around the park for Michael and Abbigail’s session, there was no one else photographing on the bridge. I motioned to mom that we were pulling over and I finally had a chance to create a portrait here. The bridge is one of the many beautiful, historic sites at the park. And anyone that has grown up in the area is familiar with it. Of course the kids look great in this image too!

youngstown senior portrait downtown b&o station

The B&O Station in Downtown Youngstown was the backdrop for Preston’s senior portraits. He is a Lordstown Class of 2014 Senior with some serious basketball skills. Not your typical senior boy session, this guy had me laughing the entire time during his photos. I have been informed by his mom, Debbie, that after his portraits he decided he should become a male fashion model. Just thinking about his session puts a smile on my face.

two dogs sitting outside in snow with trees behind for portrait

This image is from my very last session of 2013 of Norma Jean and Love. These dogs are just gorgeous and are so very well-behaved. Not only did Cheryl and Steve order this image as a canvas for display at their home, but I also ordered a 40×30 canvas of the girls for display at the studio.

Yet another gorgeous Class of 2014 senior. Nicole is a beauty and her clothing choices were perfect. We had a memorable time in Downtown Youngstown for her Saturday morning portraits. I wish I looked this good when I was a high school senior! And I wish I had access to her jewelry and shoe collection! Nicole will be headed off to journalism school in the Fall after she graduates from Canfield High School.

red hair little boy with winter sweater on sitting on brick path at park during fall

James always makes me work hard for his photos! It was a very chilly Fall day and as usual, this guy wanted to do anything and everything besides pose for his photos. I am not sure how this shot happened, probably a bribe from his mom to sit still for just a second. Out of all the photos I have taken of him over the years, this is by far my favorite! The Fall colors coordinate perfectly with his red hair.

girl in formal dress senior portrait on stage at youngstown playhouse with old microphone

Brittany’s senior portrait session was a chance for me to go to the Youngstown Playhouse for the first time since childhood! Watch out for this one, she is definitely going to go places with her talent as a singer. And what better place than the Playhouse for part of her senior session. I cannot wait to see what she achieves after she graduates from Boardman High School this year!

first communion portrait little girl holding rosery studio

Abbigail makes the list for a second time! We had her First Communion portrait session at the studio in the Spring and she did an amazing job. Mom and I both loved this image and it was on display during her First Communion party. That smile and those big eyes say it all!

portrait couple with dogs outside

Traci and Mike wanted portraits with their dogs before the newest addition to their family arrived. Their session was held at Traci’s childhood home in Boardman when they were in town from Columbus. The dogs were so fun and Traci looked amazing as a mommy-to-be. Sampson and Gus were as opposite as two dogs can be and you can see that in their faces in this fun family photograph.
