A Beautiful Fall Morning for Family Portraits in Boardman, Ohio

I am not a morning person! It takes me a good two hours (if not more) to become fully functional when I get out of bed, plus a trip to Starbucks. Hence, the reason why I don’t schedule many sessions for first thing in the morning. There was a slight snag in that plan on my last trip to Youngstown. A few weeks ago when I was in town, I got to photograph James and Lilly. This trip they were in front of the camera again, for family portraits.Dad had a schedule change at work and our plan of a noon session was not going to happen. The rest of my day was full with appointments and then I had to drive back to Columbus that evening. We worked it out that they would be my first session of the day at 8:30,  so that Jeff could still make it to work and we could get their portraits in while there was beautiful colors on the trees. I see now why some photographers swear by photographing at sunrise and sunset, the light is just amazing!!

I got to Boardman Park around 8:15 and I couldn’t believe it, there was hardly anyone there! A wonderful fall morning and only a few employees and joggers were to be found. It was perfect, almost no distractions for the kids and basically the entire park to ourselves. Their session went great and the kids were in wonderful moods for their photos. And I must say, Kim took my suggestions and ran with them for an amazing job coordinating the family’s clothing! I love the browns and reds against the backdrop of the park. Here are a few of my favorites from that morning. I can’t wait to see what they do for next year’s portraits!

Kim did a great job, well coordinated but not too matchy-matchy on their clothing.

I love everything about this photo.
